"[It was] a place dedicated to fine-tuning the surface
of software. With their perpetual upgrades, each existing as a stratum of opaque sediment,
further hiding the machine, burying it in ossified layers, there was little incentive to
break out in a new direction. They were a short term shop in a computer world where short -
three months - seemed long to those mired in the latest code update. This was not
evolution - it was fossilization".
